Micro crystalline cellulose powder (MCCP) is made from purified partially depolymerised Alfa cellulose relatively free from both organic and inorganic contaminants . It is insoluble in water, dilute acids, common organic solvents and oils, Partially soluble with swelling in dilute alkali. It is fine, whitodour less, edible and metabolically inert powder.

MICROCRYSTALLINE CELLULOSE POWDER CONFORMS THE STANDARDS OF IP, BP, EP, USP

APPLICATIONS

Microcrystalline cellulose is using for tableting operations is shown by the number and variety of functions it can perform

DIRECT COMPRESSION

  • Binder

  • Disintigrant

  • Flow aid

  • Filler

WET GRANULATION

  • Permits fast addition of granulation fluid

  • Binder

ADVANTAGES OF USING MICROCRYSTALLINE CELLULOSE

  • Low friability

  • Non desiccating

  • High compressible even with problem formulations

DIFFERENT GRADES OF MCCP AND TYPICAL PHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Grade Avg Particle size (mm)
Uses
101 50 Standard grade widely used for direct compression And wet granulation.
102 100 Larger particle size for better flowability like direct Compression tableting and wet granulation
103 50 Low moisture grade ideal for moisture sensitive Products.
105 20 Finest particle size for direct compression.
112 90 Low moisture grade with larger particle size. It also allows formulating directly compressible Moisture sensitive actives.
113 50 Low moisture grade useful with moisture sensitive Materials.
200 180 Coarsest Particle size available for direct compression And dry granulation.
301 50 High density grade mainly for smaller tablets.
302 90 High density with large particle size mainly for thin Tablets.
